Description

Vitamin B12 occurs as dark red crystals or as an amorphous or crystalline powder. In the anhydrous form, it is very hygroscopic, and when exposed to air, it may absorb about 12% of water. It is sparingly soluble in water; soluble in alcohol; and insoluble in acetone, in chloroform, and in ether.

Application

In medical and health care, Vitamin B12is mainly used to treat various VB12 deficiency diseases, such as megaloblastic anemia, anemia caused by drug poisoning, aplastic anemia and leukopenia. In feed additives, VB12 can promote the growth and development of poultry, livestock, especially young birds and young animals, and improve the utilization of feed protein.
