Trimellitic anhydride chloride is an organic compound. It is a colorless to slightly yellow crystalline solid that is soluble in organic solvents such as dimethylformamide, ether and carbon tetrachloride.

Trimellitic anhydride chloride is an anhydride compound that has the typical properties of anhydrides. When reacting with alcohol or water, it can form corresponding esters or acids and release hydrochloric acid. It can react with amines to form amides and release hydrochloric acid. Trimellitic anhydride chloride can also undergo electrophilic attack reactions with other compounds, such as forming corresponding metal anhydride salts with alkali metals.

Trimellitic anhydride chloride has high reactivity and strong acid properties, and is often used as an acylating agent or acid catalyst in organic synthesis in the laboratory. It can be used to synthesize various organic compounds such as esters and amides, and acts as a catalyst in some organic reactions.
