Mechanism of Action	Tenofovir alafenamide hemifumarate is a prodrug that is converted in the body to tenofovir, an acyclic nucleoside phosphonate analog of adenosine 5′-monophosphate. It inhibits viral DNA polymerase, thereby preventing viral replication.
Indications	– Used for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B (HBV) infection in adults and children aged 6 years and older.<br>- Also used in combination with other antiretrovirals for the treatment of HIV-1 infection.
Dosage Forms	Tablets (25 mg)
Administration	Taken orally once daily, with or without food.
Pharmacokinetics	– High intracellular concentration in target cells (hepatocytes and lymphocytes) compared to tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF).<br>- Lower plasma concentration of tenofovir, reducing renal toxicity.
Side Effects	– Common: Headache, fatigue, nausea.<br>- Serious: Renal toxicity, decreased bone mineral density (less common than with TDF).
Precautions	– Monitor renal function and bone density.<br>- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
Storage	Store at room temperature below 86°F (30°C), in a cool, dry place.
