It extracted from Sophora japonica, is a flavonoid, also known as vitamin P. It has contractile effect on capillaries and has been used as hemostatic agent since ancient times. In addition, rutin has a good effect on the prevention of heart disease, arteriosclerosis, hypertension and other lifestyle diseases.

Description

It is a yellow to greenish-yellow powder. It is soluble in pyridine, formyl and lye, slightly soluble in ethanol, acetone and ethyl acetate, almost insoluble in chloroform, ether, benzene, carbon disulfide and petroleum ether.

Application

It can reduce capillary permeability and fragility, maintain and restore the normal elasticity of capillaries, and can be used to prevent and treat hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage, diabetic retinal hemorrhage and hemorrhagic purpura. It is also used as food antioxidants and pigments.
