Introduction
Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6) is a white or almost white crystalline powder, odorless, sour and bitter, and sublimated by heating. The dried product is stable to air and light, and the aqueous solution is gradually oxidized and changed color when exposed to air, and the oxidation accelerates with the increase of pH value. Mp205-209°C (decomposition), with maximum absorption (0.1mol/LHCl) at a wavelength of 290nm±1nm. Easily soluble in water (1:4.5), the solution is acidic, slightly soluble in ethanol (1:90) and acetone, but insoluble in ether and chloroform.
Application
Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), chemical name 2-methyl-3-hydroxy-4,5-dihydroxymethylpyridine hydrochloride, exists in rice bran, vegetables, yeast, molasses, fat and so on. It can be synthesized from methyl methoxyacetate, acetone and ethyl cyanoacetate. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is a vitamin drug, which can treat all kinds of diseases caused by lack of VB6 clinically. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is used for vomiting during pregnancy, radiation sickness, etc Isoniazid poisoning and the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal reactions of antineoplastic drugs are sometimes used as adjuvant treatment for pellagra and other kinds of malnutrition. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is also used as feed additive, food additive and ultraviolet absorbent in cosmetics.
