Mechanism of Action	Prothionamide is an antibacterial agent that inhibits mycolic acid biosynthesis in Mycobacterium tuberculosis by targeting the enzyme InhA.
Clinical Uses	– Tuberculosis: Used as a second-line drug for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).<br>- Leprosy: Has been tested for use in treating leprosy.
Adverse Effects	– Hepatotoxicity: Can cause hepatitis in patients with MDR-TB.<br>- DRESS Syndrome: Rarely causes drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms.<br>- Other: May cause allergic skin reactions and severe eye irritation.
