Phenyl salicylate, an organic compound, is used as a stabilizer for vinyl plastics and a fixative for toilet water. It is also used in pharmaceuticals, plasticizers, preservatives and the preparation of jasmine and Syringa.
Description
It is a white crystalline powder with a pleasant aromatic odor (winter oil odor). It is soluble in ether, benzene and chloroform, soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in water and glycerin.
Application
It is a kind of ultraviolet absorber and has good compatibility with resin. It can be used in polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polyester, polystyrene, cellulose resin, polyolefin, polyurethane and so on; used in plastic products, the absorption wavelength range is narrow and the light stability is poor; also used as a stabilizer for vinyl plastics. It can also be used as a pharmaceutical disinfectant preservative and organic synthesis.
