Mechanism of Action Inhibits the activity of gastrointestinal lipases, preventing the hydrolysis of triglycerides into fatty acids and monoglycerides, thereby reducing the absorption of dietary fat.
Indication For the management of obesity, including weight loss and the maintenance of weight loss, in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet.
Dosage Typically 120 mg taken with each main meal or up to three times daily. Should not be taken if a meal is missed or does not contain fat.

Contraindications Pregnancy, breastfeeding, hypersensitivity to orlistat, chronic malabsorption syndrome, cholestasis, and concurrent use with certain medications (e.g., amiodarone).
