Description

Nicotinic Acid is white or almost white, crystalline powder. It is sparingly soluble in water, soluble in boiling water and in boiling ethanol (96 per cent). It dissolves in dilute solutions of alkali hydroxides and carbonates.

Application

Niacin is a vitamin drug used to prevent niacin deficiency such as pellagra. Also used as a vasodilator to treat hyperlipidemia. Also used for the treatment of vascular migraine, headache, cerebral arterial thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, inner ear vertigo, frostbite, central retinal choroiditis. Can also be used as an additive for food and feed.
