N-Acetyl-1,3-phenylenediamine – Nature

colorless needle crystals or platelets. Melting Point: 87-89 °c. Soluble in cold water, ethanol, acetone, benzene-soluble.

N-Acetyl-1,3-phenylenediamine – Preparation Method

M-phenylenediamine was dissolved in water. Hydrochloric acid was gradually added to form M-phenylenediamine hydrochloride. Then acetic anhydride is used for acylation, and the reaction product is neutralized to obtain the finished product.

N-Acetyl-1,3-phenylenediamine – Use

It is mainly used as an intermediate for reactive dyes such as reactive yellow and disperse dyes.

N-Acetyl-1,3-phenylenediamine – Safety

  • toxic, its toxicity can be found in M-phenylenediamine (C283). In addition to absorption through the skin can also be caused by inhalation of dust poisoning. Attention should be paid to dust prevention in the production process, and the site should be well ventilated. The operator should wear protective gear.
  • the use of fiberboard barrel liner plastic bag packaging, net weight 25kg per barrel. Store in a dry, ventilated place to avoid sun exposure. Handle with care and protection against moisture and heat. According to the provisions of toxic substances storage and transportation.

EPA chemical information Information provided by: ofmpub.epa.gov (external link)
Uses Mainly used as an intermediate for reactive dyes and disperse dyes
Dye intermediates. Mainly used for preparing reactive yellow K-RN and disperse dyes.
Production method is obtained by acylation of m-phenylenediamine. Add water and m-phenylenediamine to the reaction pot to dissolve. Add 30% hydrochloric acid, stir for half an hour, then add acetic acid, control the reaction temperature at 40 ℃, keep warm and stir for 1h, add refined salt for salting out, and filter. After neutralization, m-aminoacetanilide is obtained. Acylation operations may also use acetic anhydride as a raw material. Raw material consumption quota m-phenylenediamine 1021kg/t, acetic anhydride 1013kg/t, hydrochloric acid 475kg/t.
