Aspect Details
Mechanism of Action Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) is an immunosuppressive agent that is hydrolyzed to its active metabolite, mycophenolic acid (MPA). MPA selectively inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), reducing the formation of guanosine nucleotides, which are essential for DNA and RNA synthesis. This inhibits the proliferation of T and B lymphocytes, reducing the immune response.
