Melting point: Around 167 – 172 °C. Solubility: Practically insoluble in water, soluble in acetone, chloroform, and methanol. It is relatively stable under normal storage conditions but may degrade when exposed to extreme heat, light, or moisture over time.

Pharmacology
|
Moxidectin is a broad – spectrum antiparasitic agent. It acts on nematodes and some arthropods. It binds to glutamate – gated chloride channels in the nerve and muscle cells of parasites, causing an increase in chloride ion permeability. This leads to hyperpolarization of the cell membrane, resulting in paralysis and death of the parasite. It is widely used in veterinary medicine for the treatment and prevention of various parasitic infections in livestock and pets, such as gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms, and certain mites and lice.

Side Effects (in animals)
|
In some animals, especially those with pre – existing health conditions or in cases of overdose, it may cause transient side effects. These can include mild gastrointestinal upset like diarrhea or reduced appetite. In rare cases, it may lead to neurological symptoms such as ataxia (lack of muscle coordination) or tremors. However, when used at the recommended dosages in healthy animals, it is generally well – tolerated.
