Chemical Properties	Mexiletine hydrochloride is a sodium channel blocker with the chemical name 1-(2,6-dimethylphenoxy)-2-propanamine hydrochloride. It is a white or off-white crystalline powder, almost odorless with a bitter taste.

Solubility	Soluble in water and ethanol, but almost insoluble in ether.
Pharmacological Properties	Mexiletine is a Class Ib antiarrhythmic agent, structurally similar to lidocaine. It inhibits the inward sodium current required for the initiation and conduction of impulses, reducing the rate of rise of the action potential. It is used for treating acute and chronic ventricular arrhythmias, including those unresponsive to lidocaine.
Pharmacokinetics	Well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with a bioavailability of 90%. It is primarily metabolized in the liver via CYP2D6 and CYP1A2, with approximately 10% excreted unchanged in urine.
Safety and Precautions	Mexiletine has a narrow therapeutic window with an effective plasma concentration range of 0.5–2 µg/mL. Concentrations above 2 µg/mL may cause adverse reactions. It should be used with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment and heart failure.
Storage Conditions	Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.
