production method (1) maleic anhydride and 1,3-pentadiene are added to a stirring reactor, and heated under stirring to carry out diene addition reaction to generate methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride: (2) continuous hydrogenation of methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride to produce methyl hexahydrophthalic anhydride by continuous hydrogenation of methyl tetrahydrophthalic anhydride adopts a continuous trickle bed reaction process, and the optimized reaction process parameters are: inlet temperature 185 ℃, pressure 7.0MPa, hydrogen-oil ratio 3000: 1. The total conversion rate of the product is about 98.2%, and the total yield of the product is 85.8%.
