Description
Methotrexate is an antimetabolite used in the treatment of certain neoplastic diseases, severe psoriasis, and adult rheumatoid arthritis. It is practically insoluble in water, in ethanol (96 per cent) and in methylene chloride. It dissolves in dilute mineral acids and in dilute solutions of alkali hydroxides and carbonates.
Application
Methotrexate is an antifolate anticancer drug. It is clinically used for acute leukemia, especially acute lymphocytic leukemia, chorionic epithelial cancer and malignant mole. It has certain curative effect on head and neck cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and pelvic tumor.
