How do factories deal with rust on metal workpieces?
News 2025-06-26

When the atmospheric temperature changes greatly, it has a great impact on the rust of metal. When hot and humid air encounters cold metal, it is easy to cause condensation on the metal surface, which will greatly accelerate the rust of metal. Here are some tips to prevent and delay the rust of metal workpieces
Choose a suitable storage place
The place where metal workpieces are stored, whether inside or outside the warehouse, should be kept clean and dry, away from workshops that produce harmful gases and dust, and should not be mixed with acids, alkalis, salts, gases, dust and other substances. They should be stored in batches according to classification;
Close windows in the morning and evening
When the humid “return of the south” comes, the windows of the production workshop and packaging workshop must be closed tightly, especially the windows facing south and southeast, so as not to give any opportunity for moisture outside the window to sneak in. The most important time for moisture prevention is the morning and evening every day. The air humidity during these two periods is higher than that at noon. If the doors and windows are not closed in time, water vapor will seriously penetrate into every corner of the workshop environment.
Keep the warehouse dry
Ensure the relative humidity of the warehouse is controlled at about 70%, add industrial dehumidifiers to the warehouse to extract moisture from the outside; add desiccant to the workpiece packaging in the recent period to increase the dehumidification and moisture reduction effect.
Proper stacking, matting and sealing
Put the workpiece on the pallet and stack it properly to prevent direct contact with the ground; strengthen the sealed packaging of the product to isolate the metal material from the outside air to reduce the impact of moisture on rust. Before sealing, ensure that the metal workpiece is clean and dry
Add desiccant during transportation and storage:
Desiccant is placed in the packaging of various items (such as instruments, parts, etc.) to prevent the items from getting damp, mildew or rusting.
Anti-rust by oil spraying
If the workpiece processed on site cannot be put into storage and packaging in time, spray anti-rust oil appropriately to prevent the product from rusting.
