Chemical Properties Geraniol is an olefin terpene with oral activity. It has antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor activities. It can inhibit cell proliferation and promote apoptosis.
Applications – Widely used in various floral-type fragrance for daily use, such as apple, strawberry, and other fruit-scented types, as well as cinnamon, ginger, and other spice-scented types of food fragrances.
– Used in the industrial manufacture of important chemicals such as vanillyl alcohol, vanillin, citral, hydroxyvanillin, ionone, and vitamin A.
– Various esters synthesized from geraniol are also excellent fragrances.
