| Mechanism of Action | Eprazinone is a mucolytic and bronchodilator with both central and peripheral cough-suppressing effects. It selectively inhibits the cough center in the brainstem and reduces the viscosity of mucus, making it easier to expel. It also acts as a ligand for the neurokinin 1 receptor (NK1R) and may exert anti-inflammatory effects by regulating lipid composition in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BAL) and modulating airway ion transport. |
