Introduction

Epoxy anti-corrosion dual-resistance powder coating for coal mines

Coal-mine epoxy anti-static and anti-corrosion powder coating is a heavy-duty conductive coating built on phenolic epoxy resin with modified conductive polymers and conductive materials. It combines intrinsic and doped conductivity, reaching a surface resistivity below 10⁵ Ω so that static charge cannot build up on gas drainage pipes — eliminating spark risk in a gas-rich mine atmosphere. The film is highly reactive, strongly adherent and highly cross-linked, with good chemical, solvent and cathodic-disbondment resistance, plus flexibility and impact strength.

Product Features

  • Excellent adhesion to the substrate.
  • First-grade material combining intrinsic and doped conductivity.
  • Surface resistivity reaches 10⁵ Ω, effectively eliminating surface charge accumulation.
  • Superior high-temperature cathodic disbondment resistance.
  • Low melting temperature, high reactivity, high cure completion, good mechanicals.
  • Contains composite flame retardants for a degree of flame resistance.

Powder Performance

Adhesion Excellent
Conductivity Surface resistivity below 10⁵ Ω
Cathodic disbondment Superior at high temperature
Flexibility Passes 4/5 flattening and post-grooving tests
Temperature resistance Good performance across high and low temperatures
Flame retardancy Contains composite flame retardants

Application & Curing

Equipment Tribo (frictional) spray, corona electrostatic spray, dip coating, roll coating
Film thickness 250–450 µm, adjustable to the workpiece
Curing temperature Referenced to workpiece temperature; preheat pipe surface above 200°C for full cure; do not exceed 250°C
Heating Medium-frequency heating or equivalent; deviations from schedule affect performance

Handling & Precautions

  • Surface preparation: oil-free, water-free; blast to Sa 2½ (GB/T 8923), anchor depth 40–100 µm; blow off dust and abrasives.
  • Preheating: 180–250°C, never above 250°C; preheat steel pipe surface above 200°C for cure completion.
  • Storage: ventilated, dry, below 30°C, away from heat, corrosives and solvents, out of strong light; stack ≤ 5 layers, keep sealed to prevent caking.
  • Outdoor use: not recommended — may fade and chalk under UV.
  • Safety: non-toxic, non-flammable; follow GB 15607-1995 coating-operation safety rules.

Compliance: MT 181-88 “Safety Performance Testing Specifications for Plastic Pipes Used in Coal Mines”.

Practical note: this is a conductive anti-static barrier, not a decorative exterior finish. The 250–450 µm build is deliberate — it must be thick enough to keep the conductive network continuous and the static path grounded, yet cured fully through such a heavy film, which is why pipe preheat above 200°C and controlled medium-frequency heating matter. On a gas drainage pipe, the Sa 2½ blast and clean anchor profile are what bond the film and hold the 10⁵ Ω path over years; skip them and you lose both adhesion and conductivity. It is an indoor/buried epoxy grade, so do not put it on exposed outdoor work where UV will chalk it.
