Dithiothreitol Uses:
Quantitative reduction of disulfides; DTT is effective in reducing protein disulfide bonds in sample buffer prior to SDS-PAGE; DTT can also be used to reduce disulfide bridges of the cross-linking agent N,N′-bis(acryloyl)cystamine in order to break down polyacrylamide gel matrices; used to scavenge disulfide linkages in protein sequence analyses; used to examine increased as well as dynamic reductions; blocks oxidative reactions that occur in the extraction of cholecystokinin peptides from brain and oxidation reactions that occur during extraction of cholecystokinin peptides from brain as well as duodenal tissue .
