Propylene glycol butyl ether series are promising environmentally friendly solvents due to their slight toxicity and pleasant odor. Used in industrial/household cleaner formulations, they are extremely safe and recognized in many developed countries, especially in Japan. The evaporation rate is similar to that of ethylene glycol butyl ether and is a very good substitute for the latter. It has a wide range of uses in paints, detergents, inks and leather. In the process of dye dissolution, it can be used as a good coupling agent instead of alcoholic solvent. In addition, propylene glycol butyl ether series can be used as film-forming additives for water-based coatings, photopolymer, PS plate cleaning, printing, electronic chemicals, jet engine fuel additives (water repellents), extraction agents and high boiling point solvents.
