Introduction
Dioctyl sulfosuccinate sodium salt (DOSS), also known as Aerosol OT, is an anionic surfactant with the molecular formula C₂₀H₃₇NaO₇S and a molecular weight of 444.56 g/mol. It appears as a white waxy solid or colorless to pale yellow liquid, depending on formulation. DOSS is highly soluble in water (1.5 g/100 mL at 25°C) and organic solvents like benzene and tetrachloromethane, with a melting point of 173–179°C and a flash point of 91–95°C (open cup). Widely used in textiles, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, DOSS acts as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and detergent. Its applications extend to medicine as a laxative and softener for constipation relief. DOSS is also employed in electrophoresis for detecting estrogenic compounds and in membrane protein solubilization. Though stable under normal conditions, it decomposes in alkaline solutions and is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
Usage:
1.It is an excellent emulsifier, detergent and penetrant used in the textile industry. Good permeability and wettability.
2. Also called aerosol OT, used as a lubricant, can be used as a surfactant in the printing and dyeing industry and the cosmetics industry.
3. Surfactant, used as leveling agent in printing and dyeing industry, and also used as emulsion for photosensitive materials.
Packaging and Shipping: 25KG/drum.
Storage: Stored in a dry and ventilated warehouse; keep away from sunshine; avoid fire; avoid moisture.
