Gas Introduction

Cyclopropane is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H6. It is a colorless gas, slightly soluble in water, and easily soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. It is mainly used as an anesthetic and can also be used in organic synthesis.

Cyclopropane is a colorless, flammable gas with the smell of petroleum ether at room temperature and pressure. It is easily soluble in water, with a solubility of 27% (volume) at 15°C. It is easily absorbed by concentrated sulfuric acid. It is easy to liquefy, with an S.P. of 618.4kPa at 21.1°C. Cyclopropane is relatively stable, and it begins to pyrolyze at 400-500°C to produce propylene. At higher temperatures, hydrogen, ethylene, saturated hydrocarbons and carbon are produced.
