Product name:
Benzoic Acid
It is used in the preservatives production of pharmaceuticals, dye carriers, plasticizers, perfumes and food, as well as in the performance improvement of alkyd resin coatings; as an intermediate in pharmaceuticals and dyes for the preparation of plasticizers and spices, etc.
Description
It is a white or almost white, crystalline powder or colourless crystals. It is slightly soluble in water, soluble in boiling water, freely soluble in ethanol (96 per cent) and in fatty oils.
Application
It is a preservative primarily for use against molds and yeasts, white crystals or powder, commonly used in food industry. In acidic condition, it has inhibitory effect, the optimum pH value is 2.5-4.0. Benzoic acid is used in concentrations of 0.05 to 0.1 percent. Due to the low solubility of benzoic acid and use shall be stirring, or dissolved in a small amount of hot water or ethanol, it is often used in the sodium salt.
