Mechanism of Action	Azatadine is a competitive H1-receptor antagonist with additional anticholinergic and antiserotonergic effects. It reduces the intensity of allergic reactions by blocking histamine H1 receptors.
Indications	Used to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, urticaria, allergic conjunctivitis, and other allergic conditions. It is also used for symptoms of the common cold.
Dosage	Adults: 1-2 mg twice daily. Children (6-12 years): 1 mg twice daily.
Formulations	Available as tablets (1 mg) and syrup (0.5 mg/5 mL).
Side Effects	Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, constipation, and difficulty urinating.
Contraindications	Contraindicated in patients with glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, and other conditions where anticholinergic effects may be harmful.
Special Precautions	Use with caution in elderly patients and those with a history of asthma. Avoid alcohol consumption.
Drug Interactions	May interact with CNS depressants, MAO inhibitors, and other antihistamines.
Pharmacokinetics	Rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, with a peak plasma concentration reached in about 4 hours and a half-life of 9-12 hours.
Storage Conditions	Store below 40°C (104°F), preferably between 15 and 30°C (59 and 86°F).
