Mechanism of Action	Alogliptin selectively inhibits DPP-4, an enzyme that degrades incretin hormones such as GLP-1 and GIP. By inhibiting DPP-4, alogliptin prolongs the activity of these hormones, leading to increased insulin secretion and decreased glucagon release, thereby regulating glucose homeostasis.
Indications	Used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic agents such as metformin, sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, and insulin.
Dosage Forms	Tablets (6.25 mg, 12.5 mg, 25 mg) for once-daily oral administration. Also available in combination with metformin or pioglitazone.
Administration	Taken once daily, with or without food. Dose adjustments are required for patients with renal impairment (e.g., 12.5 mg daily for CrCl 30–60 mL/min, 6.25 mg daily for CrCl 15–30 mL/min, and 6.25 mg daily for CrCl <15 mL/min or on hemodialysis).
Pharmacokinetics	– Half-life: Approximately 21 hours.<br>- Excretion: Primarily through urine (76%) and feces (13%).
