Pharmaceutical Materials 2025-03-03
3,3-Tetramethyleneglutarimide, also known as 8-azaspiro[4.5]decane-7,9-dione, is a cyclic imide derivative with the molecular formula C₉H₁₃NO₂. It serves as a crucial intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis, particularly in the production of anti-anxiety medications such as buspirone (Buspar®). Structurally characterized by a tetramethylene bridge and a formylimide functionality, it exhibits high reactivity and stability under ambient conditions. Its synthesis typically involves cyclocondensation reactions using 1,1-cyclopentanedicarboxylic acid and urea, yielding a white crystalline powder with a melting point of 153–155 °C. Beyond pharmaceuticals, it finds applications in organic synthesis and as a reagent in life science research, underscoring its versatility in chemical and biochemical domains.
Usage:Used as a commonly pharmaceutical intermediate for the preparation of some drugs. At present, it is mostly used for the preparation of antianxiety drug buspironone hydrochloride, and it is the key intermediate for the preparation of this kind of drugs.
Packaging and Shipping: 25KG/drum or as per buyer requirements.
Storage: Keep the container airtight and store in a cool, ventilated warehouse.Stay away from incompatible materials such as oxidants.
