Introduction

3-layer FPE anti-corrosion epoxy powder coating is formulated from epoxy and phenolic epoxy resins to GB/T 23257-2009. It has high reactivity, strong adhesion, high cross-link density and excellent resistance to chemicals, cathodic disbondment and impact — used as the epoxy layer on oil and gas pipelines.

Product Features
- Excellent adhesion to the substrate.
- Appropriate gel time and interfacial properties, fusing with the intermediate adhesive layer into a cohesive unit.
- Protection over a wide temperature range, long-term corrosion resistance.
- Superior high-temperature cathodic disbondment resistance.
- High coverage area and transfer efficiency.
- Low melting temperature, high reactivity, high cure completion rate, good mechanical properties.

Application Parameters
| Equipment | Frictional-charge spray, corona electrostatic spray |
| Film thickness | 120–150 µm (adjustable to workpiece requirements) |
Health & Safety
| Toxicity | Non-toxic, safe for handling and application |
| Flammability | Non-flammable, reduced storage and use risk |
| Regulation | GB 15607-1995 — follow coating-operation safety protocols |
Precautions
| Mixing | Do not mix with other powder types |
| Outdoor use | Not recommended — may cause fading and chalking (this is the epoxy layer of a 3PE system, protected by the PE outer layer) |
| Surface preparation | Oil- and water-free; blast to Sa 2½ (GB/T 8923), anchor profile 40–100 µm; blow off dust and abrasives |
| Storage | Ventilated, dry, below 30°C; away from heat, corrosives and solvents; protect from strong light; stack ≤ 5 layers; keep packaging sealed |
| Curing temperature | Preheat the steel pipe surface above 190°C for full cure completion |

Compliance: GB/T 23257-2009 “Polyethylene Anti-Corrosion Coating for Buried Steel Pipelines”.
Practical note: this is the FBE base layer of a 3PE/3-layer PE system — it bonds to the steel and must fuse with the middle adhesive layer to the PE outer jacket. The Sa 2½ blast and 40–100 µm anchor profile are what make the cathodic-disbondment numbers hold; oil or moisture on the pipe surface causes holiday and underfilm corrosion. Heat the pipe to 200°C+ before spraying so the gel time (≥12 s at 200°C) and ≤3 min cure are achieved in line speed. Do not expose this epoxy layer outdoors on its own — the PE jacket is the UV and weather barrier.
