Introduction
2-Picoline, also known as α-methylpyridine or 2-methylpyridine, is a key intermediate in organic synthesis with the molecular formula C₆H₇N and a molecular weight of 93.13 g/mol. It is widely used in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and rubber processing for producing intermediates such as pyridine derivatives, herbicides, and rubber accelerators. The compound is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a boiling point of 128–129 °C and a density of 0.943 g/cm³ at 25 °C. Its reactivity stems from the methyl group at the 2-position of the pyridine ring, enabling nucleophilic substitution and coupling reactions. However, it is classified as a flammable liquid (GHS Category 3) and poses health risks upon inhalation or skin contact, necessitating strict safety protocols during handling.
Usage: 2-methylpyridine is an intermediate of plant growth regulator pyridinol.
Packaging and Shipping: 25kgs/Bag or Drum or as required by buyer.
Storage: Store in a cool, ventilated place, protect from sun, heat and moisture.Storage and transportation according to general chemical regulations.
