2-Methyltetrahydrofuran (2-MeTHF) is a colorless, volatile liquid with an ether-like odor, widely recognized as a versatile solvent and chemical intermediate. It is highly soluble in organic solvents like ethanol, ether, and benzene but exhibits low solubility in water, which increases at lower temperatures. As a derivative of tetrahydrofuran (THF), 2-MeTHF offers enhanced chemical stability and reduced propensity to form explosive peroxides during storage, making it a safer alternative to THF. Its applications span pharmaceuticals (e.g., synthesis of chloroquine and primaquine), polymers (as a solvent for resins and natural rubber), and green chemistry (e.g., biocatalytic reactions and lithium-ion battery electrolytes). Despite its flammability (flash point: -11°C), 2-MeTHF’s utility in high-energy chemical environments, such as Grignard reactions, underscores its importance in modern organic synthesis and industrial processes.

Usage： It is mainly used as the solvent OF resin, natural rubber, ethyl cellulose and chloroacetic acid-vinyl acetate copolymer, and used in the pharmaceutical industry to synthesize the anti-disease drug primaquine phosphate and so on.
