1-Bromoadamantane, also known as 1-adamantyl bromide, is a key halogenated derivative of adamantane with the molecular formula C₁₀H₁₅Br and a molecular weight of 215.13 g/mol. It serves as a critical intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis, particularly in the production of antiviral drugs like amantadine hydrochloride. Recent studies highlight its role in organic chemistry, where it acts as a building block for new materials and pharmaceuticals. Synthesized via bromination of adamantane using bromine and subsequent purification, 1-bromoadamantane exhibits high purity (up to 99%) and melting point stability (116–118 °C).
