Gas Introduction
Methane is a non-polar molecule with a regular tetrahedral structure and is the simplest organic matter. Methane is a major component of conventional natural gas, shale gas, combustible ice, etc., and is a very important carbon-based resource. It is the most important non-CO2 greenhouse gas. In the stratosphere of the atmosphere, methane will be decomposed into water vapor (clouds), which will cause the ozone layer to be destroyed.
Under normal atmospheric pressure, the lower explosion limit (LEL) of methane is 5-6%, and the upper explosion limit (UEL) is 15-16%; when the concentration of methane in the air reaches 9.5%, the strongest explosion will occur. Among them, when the oxygen concentration decreases, the lower explosion limit does not change much, while the upper explosion limit decreases significantly; when the oxygen concentration is lower than 12%, the mixed gas loses its explosiveness.
