Physical and Chemical Properties Character white orthorhombic crystalline powder.
melting point 1060 ℃
relative density 3.25~3.35
solubility it is slightly soluble in water, but soluble in hydrochloric acid.white orthorhombic crystalline powder, slightly soluble in water, soluble in hydrochloric acid, with anti-rust, anti-chalking, high temperature, anti-explosion and other functions. Barium metaborate is easy to absorb moisture and agglomerate during storage and transportation. It has high water solubility, poor compatibility in various resins and poor firmness in paint film, and is not suitable for working pigments. However, if the modified barium metaborate is made by coating barium metaborate with polymerized and amorphous hydrated silica, the solubility of barium metaborate can be reduced, and the barium metaborate absorbs moisture during storage, so that the amount of salt in the saturated solution is reduced, less new grains capable of binding crystals are precipitated upon gradual drying and cooling, achieving a reduction in agglomeration of the modified barium metaborate during storage. Therefore, the actual product is the modified barium metaborate, which contains a certain amount of silica and crystal water, and the theoretical formula is Ba(BO2)· H2O. Relative molecular mass 241.0, commercial pigments contain at least 90% of barium metaborate [Ba(BO)2 · H2O]. The modified barium metaborate product is composed of crystalline particles, and the particle size range of the commodity is generally 0.35~35 μm, The average particle size is about 8 μm, the effective particle size is 3 μm, and the modified barium metaborate is dehydrated, but it is not hygroscopic and does not absorb moisture from the air. When heated to 1050 DEG C when melting, modified barium metaborate slightly soluble in water, water solubility in 21 deg C up to 0.4%, the typical product is 0.3%, soluble in hydrochloric acid. With anti-rust, anti-powder, anti-mildew, high temperature and flame retardant effect.
Use Used in coatings, Ceramic Industry
modified barium metaborate used in the coating industry primer, topcoat, is a new type of non-toxic anti-rust pigment, also used in ceramics, paper, rubber, textile and plastic industries.

It is a new type of antirust pigment, also used in the industries of ceramics, papermaking, rubber and plastics.
