Introduction

Methyl etherified urea formaldehyde resin, specially designed for indoor and UV resistant formulation systems, exhibits many unique characteristics. Its molecular structure is rich in polar oxygen atoms, which endows it with excellent substrate adhesion, making it suitable for both primer and intermediate coating applications. At room temperature, the resin can be cured through acid catalysis, making it very suitable for the application of two-component wood coatings. In addition, it can also improve the color retention of the coating, provide high hardness and good flexibility. Although it has a certain impact on the gloss retention, the pattern of the hammer pattern paint becomes clearer as a result. Methanol etherified urea formaldehyde resin retains its water solubility and has the characteristic of rapid curing. It can be used as a crosslinking agent for water-based coatings alone or in combination with solvent based alkyd resins.

Methylated urea formaldehyde resin, as a polymerized partially alkylated amino resin, has both alcohol solubility and water solubility. Its fast solidification greatly enhances metal adhesion, making it an ideal choice for high solid coatings and solvent-free coating crosslinking agents. This resin has two specifications: one has a relatively low molecular weight and good compatibility with various alkyd resins, epoxy resins, and polyester resins; The other type has a higher relative molecular weight and is particularly suitable for use in combination with dry or non dry short oil alkyd resins. When a mixture of aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols is used as a solvent, the coating will exhibit excellent gloss and impact resistance.

In low-temperature curing systems such as wood coatings, two-component formulation systems are particularly important. In such formulations, acidic catalysts need to be added before use. If the baking temperature is about 70 ℃, it is recommended to use a strong or weak acid catalyst in an amount of 1-2% of the total solid content of the resin. It is worth noting that this series of products can react with functional polymers containing hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amide groups, but caution should be taken against their tendency towards self condensation.

The product specifications of this methyl etherified urea formaldehyde resin are as follows: solid content of, solvent of water, pH value of 8, viscosity of 1000. It has a wide range of application scenarios, suitable for water-based primers, intermediate coatings, as well as indoor applications and water-based films.
